Teen victim now a mom drops sex case against accused

September 30, 2025

A 51-year-old man accused of having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl five years ago has been freed after the complainant told the St Catherine Circuit Court she no longer wished to proceed with the matter.

The accused, Mark Fearon, a labourer of Browns Hall District, St Catherine, was answering to three counts of having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years old.

When the case was mentioned on September 29, 2025, the complainant informed the court that she had no interest in pursuing it. She explained that she has become a mother, needs time with her child, and has lost interest in the matter.

Justice Dale Palmer subsequently dismissed the case and freed Fearon.

Allegations stated that between January and February 2020, Fearon had sexual encounters with the then 14-year-old. After one encounter on February 6, 2020, he allegedly paid her not to tell anyone. A relative later discovered the situation and reported it to the police, leading to an investigation and Fearon's arrest. He was charged on September 19, 2020, and had made multiple court appearances since.

Fearon was represented by attorney-at-law Earl Hamilton.
